The Film Festival Experience
How to get the most out of your day
First of all, if you have even clicked upon this link might I compliment you on your clear commitment to enjoying the full experience of the Jordan Raddick Film Festival.
That having been said, here are a few suggestions to both heighten your own experience, and heighten the amount of pleasure derived by your fellow festival attendees:
1) Understand that I don't expect anyone to c
ome for the entire Film Festival. Please stop by for at least one movie - pick one that you would like to see. You will be welcomed. Of course, should you choose to see more than one, you will be welcomed many times over.2) Although I will make every effort to remain on schedule, all movie times are approximate. This means that, if we are scheduled to run a movie from 3:00pm - 4:45pm, the movie will begin at 3:00pm, not before. I included 15 minute intermissions after each film to keep the films on schedule.
3) Please keep non-movie discussion to a minimum during the showing of the films. Of course, some of the films (most notably Plan 9 from Outer Space) are intended for the MST3K/ Matt's B-movie-night treatment, and for these special few witty banter is encouraged. But for all others, please be quiet out of courtesy for your fellow filmgoers.
4) A variety of refreshing adult beverages will be provided for your enjoyment. No one will be under any pressure to consume these, and refreshing all-ages beverages will be provided as well. Should you choose to consume the adult beverages, please do so in moderation.
5)Anyone who wishes is invited to spend the wee hours of Sunday morning asleep on a piece of my ample floor space. Indeed, if you drive to the festival and plan to consume refreshing adult beverages during the last few films, you will be politely required to spend the night.
6) If you are planning on attending for a while, I suggest that you bring one or more of the following: blanket, pillow, sleeping bag, water bottle, snacks, drinks.
7) If you are in attendance for Lord of the Rings and plan to stay for Plan 9 from Outer Space, I recommend that you stay in between to watch Battleship Potemkin. It's only an hour long, and it's a true cinema classic. Your life will be better for having watched it.
8) This festival will be the first to include door prizes. That's right, I said DOOR PRIZES! And I promise, no singing fish!* If the door prizes idea is a good one, it will become a regular Jordan Raddick Film Festival tradition.
Here's how it
will work:
At the beginning of each film, I will give out a ticket to everyone in
attendance. You will get a different ticket for each film you watch. I will have
two drawings: one at 8:30 PM before Lord of the Rings and one at 1:00 AM
before Plan 9 from Outer Space. Winners get prizes! You must be present
to win.
Prizes will include several items that are not singing fish. The Grand Prize will be given out at the 1:00 AM drawing. The Grand Prize will be a DVD of one of the films shown at JRFF II.
9) The most
important suggestion:
If you plan to attend, even for a small part of one film, please RSVP
so I can include you on my celebrities page. If you plan to bring a friend, by
all means do so - my friends' friends are my friends too. Have the friend RSVP
as well.
10) It's a cliche, but HAVE A GOOD TIME. That's the purpose of the film festival.
