Moose's Comment: "This movie convinced me that Russell Crowe is a great actor. He delivers a very compelling and believable performance in a film that the Squirrel tells me is one of the most realistic movies about mental illness she's ever seen. Enjoy the moment about 45 minutes into the movie when a major revelation occurs. "
Squirrel's Comment: "When I saw this movie in the theater, it blew me away. The acting and directing are phenomenal, the cinematography is gorgeous, and the soundtrack completes the package perfectly. It's not completely accurate from an historical perspective, but it does give a disturbingly true picture of the effects of mental illness, letting the viewer actually see through the distorted lenses of such an affected person. Be prepared to be completely drawn in."
Trivia: The scene towards the end of
the film where John Nash contemplates drinking tea is based on a true event when
Russell Crowe met the real John Nash. He spent 15 minutes contemplating whether
to drink tea or coffee."
