Directed By Terry Gilliam

Starring Bruce Willis, Madeline Stowe, and Brad Pitt

Moose's Comment: "One of my favorite movies ever. The premise: in 1996, a virus kills 99% of the world's population. Decades later, scientists invent time travel, and recruit a convict named James Cole (Willis) to travel back to 1996 to get a sample of the virus, so they can hope to find a cure. Cole becomes entangled in the events that lead up to the virus's release, along with a psychologist (Stowe) and the insane son of a virologist (Pitt, in full scenery-chewing crazy mode). What will Cole discover? And how does it all relate to his recurring dream of death at an airport?

This is the only time travel movie I've ever seen that fully closes the loop at the end. Every small detail, past, present, and future, finds an explanation. The powerful script, combined with Terry Gilliam's off-kilter directing, creates an atmosphere of dread that pervades the whole movie. A classic of science fiction."

Squirrel's Comment: "This one is all moose. All I know about this movie is what Jordan's told me. But, I'm told it's good, and I like science fiction, so I'm really interested in seeing it. Besides, the title mentions monkeys - how terrible can this film really be?"

Trivia: Gilliam gave Willis a list of "Willis acting clichés" not to be used during the film, including the "steely blue eyes look".
