Jordan's Comment: "In 1985, British mountaineers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates tried to become the first people to climb Siula Grande, a 21,000-foot peak in the Peruvian Andes. Joe fell into a crevasse and broke his leg; Simon, thinking that hope was lost, left Joe to die on the mountain. Miraculously, Joe crawled back down the mountain to safety. Joe wrote a book about the experience, and this is the movie made from the book.
It stars real climbers, was filmed on real mountains, and is a faithful re-enactment of Simpson and Yates's terrifying journey. An exciting continuation to the JRFF Documentary tradition."
Trivia: Some of the long distance shots of Simon and Joe climbing the mountain are played not by the lead actors, but by body doubles, who were Simon Yates and Joe Simpson themselves.
